Social networks contribute to the democratic transition as they serve as platforms for citizens to mobilize and express themselves. However, what may appear to be a 'public square' is in fact often times still private, and their interests are not necessarily aligned with society's interests. Filter bubbles, propagation of fake news, use of data for political purposes... are these social networks a danger to democracy or, on the contrary, are they an essential place of expression and change that are necessary for the redistribution of political roles and powers?
